are not always the most important in assessing costs and benefits for purposes of government decisionmaking. Government entities consider overall economic impacts, of which, financial impacts are a subset. In order to support the analysis required by this study, the IAAM has met several functional requirements. It integrates all of the SSP architecture elements as well as the characteristics of the marketplace. It links the elements of the architecture such that changes in one element will be reflected in all the other elements. It allows the user to change characteristics of the architecture or elements of an architecture. The performance summary screen from IAAM is shown in the figure below. Figure 5-1 Performance Interface Screen from IAAM The benefits of these characteristics include an end-to-end simulation of an SSP architecture that can be run quickly and produce meaningfill and traceable results. The IAAM can be used to conduct sensitivity analyses among any of dozens of input variables related to all of the architecture elements and the marketplace. This allows rapid assessment of options, and supports the refinement of architectural concepts, as well as the comparison of different architectures. The cost interfree screen from IAAM is shown in the figure below, followed by a detailed figure of the overall cost summary showing the relative contributions over time of the various architecture elements.
