Horizontal Test Unit The basis of this test unit is a trolley which moves along horizontal guides. The docking mechanism is installed on the trolley and the matching part is installed on an immobile base (Figure 7.13). The initial modification of the test unit had a trolley with a changeable load of mass mr. To reproduce central impact a load is installed with a mass equal to the equivalent mass of direct impact, that is, sin sin where is defined by (5.7). It can be said that only the first phase of lateral impact is reproduced in the test unit; thus in this testing scheme it is impossible to fully verify the shock absorbers with a determination of the recovery coefficient. Tn order to eliminate this drawback and improve the principal scheme, a test unit was created with a rocking load (Figure 7.14).
