The main advantage is the substantially larger displacement of the ring along the longitudinal axis (approach to the frame) for lateral deviations and rotations in roll, pitch, and yaw. The Soyuz and Apollo APDAs have a close value of maximum deviation in main coordinates. However, as a result of additional longitudinal displacements with simultaneous deviations of the ring in all coordinates the range of displacements for a scheme with independent shock absorbers is decreased by a factor of 2-3 (Table 5.2).
