Nejat Veziroglu, President International Association for Hydrogen Energy Zhu Yajie, President China Energy Research Society OBJECTIVE: The objective of the symposium is to provide an international forum for the presentation of the latest research results, both from China and abroad, on hydrogen systems. TOPICS: The topics to be covered are: Primary Energy Sources; Hydrogen Production Methods; Storage, Transmission and Distribution; Utilization in Transportation, Commercial, Residential, Industrial and Energy Conversion Sectors; Hydrides and Hydrogen-in-Metals; Safety; Environmental and Economic Aspects. FOR WHOM INTENDED: The Symposium is intended for energy scientists, physicists, chemists, engineers, architects, economists, educators, environmentalists and planners from industry, universities, research organizations and government agencies. PROGRAM: The five-day meeting will include 16 internationally known invited lecturers, research papers, banquet and cultural events, as well as a sightseeing tour of Beijing. There will be special sightseeing and shopping tours for the accom- paniers. Post-symposium excursions will also be available. LANGUAGE: The working language of the symposium will be English. CALL FOR PAPERS: Please send your typewritten abstract (about 200 words), including the title of the paper, names and full mailing addresses of all authors, as soon as possible, but no later than 15 December 1984, to: Mrs. Ann G. Raffle, Symposium Coordinator, I.A.H.E., P.O. Box 248266, Coral Gables, Florida 33124, U.S.A. The authors of the abstracts selected will be informed by 15 January 1985. Extended abstracts will be due 1 March 1985 and the full length papers by 30 April 1985. REGISTRATION FEE: The $185 (U.S.) registration fee includes all teabreak refreshments, the banquet, a sightseeing tour and a free copy of the postconference proceedings. The fee for accompaniers ($95 U.S.) includes the banquet, and special sightseeing and shopping tours. ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS: Accommodations in Beijing will be based on the full American plan (all meals included). Rates for single rooms range between $65 and $90 per night; twin accommodations are $40-60 per person, per night, based on double occupancy. P.T.O.
