form a next space station should take. A diagram of a possible concept is shown in Fig. 11 including the concept of evolutionary growth. Figure 12 shows a particular space station concept which emphasizes construction in space, and the launching and retrieval of orbital transfer systems. Whatever form the space station takes, it is likely that it will provide additional information pertinent to the SPS concept. Consequently, while there is no SPS research program labeled as such, the general thrust of space activities is providing a base of knowledge which could support an SPS program of the future.
