that the first draft will be available at the 1980 1AF meeting in Japan. Contributions are being solicited and existing works can be considered. It is desirable to confine the presentations to typical power systems and provide a general knowledge of the subject to the reader. On November 8, 1979, the Rice University Space Solar Power Research Group conducted their Second Annual Review Meeting. Papers were presented on Rectenna Siting, The Offshore Rectenna, Icing and Water Effects on Rectenna Efficiency, Microwave Bio-effects on Blood Platelets in vitro, Societal Acceptability of the SPS, The Photoklystron, Lightning Protection of the Rectenna, and Space Plasma Effects on The SPS. Transcripts of the Meeting are available by writing to Professor John W. Freeman, Space Solar Power Program, Rice University, P.O. Box 1892, Houston, Texas 77001. During December of 1979 the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment conducted a workshop pertaining to the SPS. The concepts of space solar power systems are being presented to a number of interested audiences in the United Kingdom by spaceflight lecturer, Phillip J. Parker. Mr. Parker is a Member of the Data Processing Managers, an Associate Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society and the May 1976 Special Citation Award International Winner of the Aviation and Space Writers Association for articles on spaceflight. Any UK technical or scientific societies or groups wishing to have a succinct illustrated lecture on space solar power systems should contact Mr. Parker on Kidsgrove (STD Code 07816) 72232 after 18.00 hrs. During January and February, 1980, NASA conducted several workshops on various aspects of the SPS technical design. These workshops were designed to subject the NASA designs and methodology to critical review by panels of experts in the subject areas. We hope that reports on these reviews can be made available in a future issue of the Space Solar Power Review. The West Coast National Meeting of the Sunsat Energy Council is being held February 18, 1980 at the Los Angeles International Airport. Dr. Ralph Ruth, Rockwell International, Anaheim, California is the general chairman. The papers presented will appear in a subsequent issue of the Space Solar Power Review. The Editor-in-Chief wishes to thank all those who have contributed to make the first issue of the Space Solar Power Review a success. Special thanks are due to Elizabeth Wood-Gunn, Editorial Assistant.
